 Los Sueños, Herradura, Jaco Beach & Playa Hermosa

No matter what you’re up for, there are a wide variety of clubs, surf bars, lounges, restaurants, cafes, fast food and local bistros all within a short distance from the Los Sueños Resort.

A few recommendations…

Mondays: Los Sueños is lovely for sushi and Asian fusion at Bambú and then a nice long stroll around the Marina to check out the beautiful yachts and sail boats.

Tuesdays: Sunset cocktails, classic rock n roll and then a casual dinner at the Hook up round out a great Tuesday evening.

Wednesdays: Head for Hermosa to enjoy 2 for 1 tuna steak dinner at Bistro Las Olas followed by Ladies’ Night at The Backyard

Thursdays: Hang out in Los Sueños for dinner at Lanterna Ristorante or El Galeon and then cocktails at the Terrace Lounge

Fridays: Jaco is calling for dinner at Lemon Zest followed by bar hopping, drink specials and dancing at the Monkey Bar, Los Amigos and Le Loft

Saturdays: Starting around 4pm, make it an early evening as you catch the weekly surf contest and (always great) live band at The Backyard

Sundays: It’s always fun to catch dinner and a movie at Dos Gringos in Playa Hermosa

Los Sueños Resort & Marina

El Galeon Restaurant & Martini Bar boasts open air dining and a waterfront location for the  perfect ambiance to a delightful gastronomic experience. Always great steak and seafood, El Galeon is open 7 days a week from 6pm to 10pm. Shuttle service within the resort is available and reservations are recommended during high season.  

Lanterna Ristorante Italiano is located on the waterfront in the Marina Village and features the flavors and charm of Italy. Open 7 days per week from 5pm to 10pm with shuttle service available within the resort. Reservations are suggested during high season.

Bambú Sushi and Asian Cuisine is located on the waterfront in Marina Village and is open 7 days per week from 11:30am to 10pm. Asian fusion and phenomenally fresh sushi and sashimi are  your ticket to the orient right here in Los Sueños Resort and Marina.

 Dolce Vita Coffee & Sweets is located in the Marina Village and is open from 6am to 10pm every day of the week. With comfy outdoor seating and a casual atmosphere, Dolce Vita is the perfect place to hang out with the ones you love and enjoy a great meal or snack.  

The Hookup is located on the second floor of the Marina Entry Building and boasts a stunning 270 degree view of Herradura Bay, Los Sueños Marina and the lush surrounding rain-forest hills.  Classic Rock, Sports TV and good old American classic cuisine make this bar and grill the perfect location to hang out for happy hour or catch the weekend game.  

Terrace Lounge is open from 5am to midnight and is located on the second floor of Lanterna in the Marina Village. Lounge and bar, Terrace lounge is great for small gatherings, cocktail receptions or just a quiet evening drink and music.

Herradura & Herradura Beach – 5 minute drive south west from Los Sueños

Herradura Beach is a quiet little beach pueblo opposite the Marina.

El Pelícano is a beachfront restaurant located in Herradura beach with open-air dining facing the ocean. The menu features a range of ceviches, salads and main dishes with emphasis on fresh seafood. El Pelícano is open for lunch and dinner.

Juanita’s Restaurant is located in Herradura beach and has a great beach front view. Seafood and steak and the specials of the house and Juanita’s is opens for lunch and dinner Wednesday through Monday. They are closed on Tuesdays.

Villa Caletas is located inside the Villa Caletas Hotel, 6 Km north of Los Sueños on the freeway to San José.  Villa Caletas is upscale and famous for its expansive ocean views. A local favorite for late afternoon cocktails, the bar at Villas Caletas is unbeatable for breathtaking sunsets.  The hotel restaurant and bar are open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Plaza Herradura Mall is located 5 minutes north east from Los Sueños at the corner of the main road outside of Los Sueños and the freeway. The Plaza is home to Inka Grill, a fine Peruvian restaurant which is open for lunch and dinner, Pizza Hut , Subway and Pops for ice cream specials and treats.  

Jacó Beach – 10 minute drive North from Los Suenos

Aberdeen Angus Steakhouse: Located in downtown Jacó, across from Los Amigos Restaurant. Opens for dinner. Closed on Mondays.

Caliche’s Wishbone: Located on Jacó’s main road, in front of Il Galeon shopping center. Pizza, seafood and Mexican food. Lunch & Dinner. Closed on Wednesdays.

Tsunami Sushi: Located on Jacó’s main road, second floor of Il Galeon shopping center. Sushi and Japanese food. Only opens for dinner.

Rioasis: Located on Jacó’s main road, in front of Pop’s Ice Cream. Pizza, salads and Mexican food. Open for lunch & dinner.

El Hicaco: Located on Jacó’s main road, beach front location, this charming sea-side restaurant  specializes in seafood and lobster feasts. Wednesdays “All You Can Eat Lobster and Seafood Festival”. Open for lunch & dinner.

Lemon Zest: Located in Jacó, second floor of El Jardín Shopping Center. This charming second floor French bistro has a house duck special that is to die for. Mouth watering succulent treats await at Lemon Zest, open for dinner only Monday through Saturday.

Pili Pili: Located in Jacó, in front of Más X Menos Supermarket. French food. Only opens for dinner. Closed on Tuesday

Los Amigos: Located on Jacó’s main road, across Pop’s Ice Cream. This restaurant serves fresh seafood and international fare at very reasonable prices. You can choose to sit inside near the bar, or on the outside patio that overlooks the bustling street. A large projection TV on the outside wall shows sports and surfing videos. Opens for lunch & dinner.

Poseidon: Soft sounds of Jazz fill this quaint side street restaurant located just off the main drag in Jaco and inside of the Poseidon hotel. The menu is small but delicious with Asian influenced dishes of fresh mahi mahi or filet mignon, changing daily to keep things interesting. Opens  for breakfast lunch and dinner.  

Playa Hermosa, Jaco- 15 minutes drive North of Los Suenos

Bistro Las Olas: Cabinas Las Olas, located in Hermosa Village, is home to a small ocean front bistro. Nightly specials include Taco Tuesdays, Two for One Tuna Steak Dinners (which, by the way, are out of this world- the tuna is so fresh it feels like it was plucked out of the ocean and placed on your plate just a minute before serving) on Wednesdays and Pasta Domingo on Sundays, of course. There is not wine list in this charming little outdoor restaurant, but feel free to bring your own without concern for high corkage fees; it’s what the locals do so you’ll fit right in.  Open every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Backyard Bar & Grill:  The Backyard hotel is located in Hermosa Village and is host to the Backyard bar. Sunset cocktail hour, weekly Saturday afternoon surf contests and Wednesday night Lady’s night, which really gets rolling around 10pm,  make this the place to hang . Open every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Dos Gringos: Located Next door to Cabinas Las Arenas in Hermosa Village, Dos Gringos is a family style restaurant with classic North American cuisine. Daily specials included Thursday night American style burgers at (nearly!) half price and Sunday nights for movies.  Open air dining. Open every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

 

Jacó Bars/Nightclubs

Tabacon: Located on the main drag in Jaco, Tabacon Bar and Grill has great food, billiards and live music every Friday, Saturday and Sunday

The Loft: Located upstairs in the big Red building across from Los Amigos and Pops, Le Loft is open from 9:30pm to 2:00am Thursday through Sunday. A Giant golden Buddha and sounds of hip-hop, dance and electronic music greet the beautiful in this upscale Ibiza, New York, Miami style lounge.  For reservations call the VIP table hotline 2643-5846 or write info@leloftcr.com.
