"How can you beat 50-pound Mahi Mahi, 100-pound pacific sails and large yellowfin tuna on topwater? It's not easy, but you did it, by providing all of the above, plus friendly English speaking guides, wonderfully comfortable accommodations and some fantastic dinners to cap it off. Not only did I have one of my more memorable days on the water, but your staff at CR Luxury Rentals made our family's stay effortless and enjoyable."

Frequently-Asked Questions

Q.What are the Costa Rica entry requirements? All foreigners require a valid passport to enter the country and citizens of some countries may require a visa. For official entry requirements, visit:
http://www.traveldocs.com/cr.

Q. Where is Los Sueños located? We are located on the Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, five miles north of the popular beach town of Jacó.

Q. What is the closest airport to Los Sueños? We recommend that you fly into Juan Santamaría International Airport in the capital city of San José. From there, it is a scenic two-hour drive to Los Sueños Resort. We would be happy to assist you with car rental reservations and private airport transfers.

Q. Is it necessary to rent a car? Some people may find it intimidating to drive in a foreign country, and Costa Rican drivers are often more aggressive than North Americans. However, the roads around Los Sueños are generally less congested and in better condition than in other parts of the country. We are happy to make car rental reservations for our clients. You may drive on your foreign license provided that you carry your passport with you. If you choose not to rent a vehicle, we can arrange for airport transfers via a private air-conditioned van. Taxi service is available should you want to leave the resort. While in the resort, most amenities are easily accessible on foot, although many people enjoy the comfort and convenience renting a golf cart during their stay, which our office will gladly arrange for you.

Q. What is the best time of year to visit Costa Rica? Costa Rica has two seasons: The dry season (high season) runs from December to April, and the green season from May to November. While most tourists have traditionally visited Costa Rica in the dry season, many are now discovering the advantages of the green season: lush foliage, cooler temperatures, less congestion at local attractions and lower rates. Los Sueños is a full-service resort that operates 365 days a year so that you can enjoy all of our amenities no matter when you visit.

Q. Are children welcome at the resort? Los Sueños is an excellent family destination. Because of our prime location on the Central Pacific Coast, we are only minutes from some of the most exciting attractions in the country: canopy tours, river rafting, sport fishing, hiking and surfing. Our staff will be happy to suggest activities that appeal to every age group and ability.

Q. I have mobility issues. Will I be able to get around Los Sueños easily? Certainly. We recommend that you reserve either a Bella Vista or Marbella condominium, as these buildings have full handicap access and elevators. Golf cart rentals are available and make getting around the resort much easier.

Q. I hear that prostitution is legal in Costa Rica . Can I bring such guests to the condominium? Although prostitution is not illegal in Costa Rica, it is not well tolerated within our residential communities. Specific rules to discourage such activities are in place and are strictly enforced. If you choose to engage in this type of activity, we request that you keep it outside of the resort's gate to avoid potential uncomfortable situations at the security gates and within the common areas.

Q. Does my rental agreement allow me to use the facilities of the Marriott Los Sueños Hotel? Renters are welcome to enjoy the Marriott's six bars and restaurants, the Stellaris Casino and spa services. In order to access to the hotel's swimming pools, tennis courts and fitness facilities, you must purchase on of the special memberships available to non-hotel guests.

Q. What if I have a medical emergency? The Los Sueños CARE Clinic is located within our resort property. It is equipped with emergency stabilization equipment and is staffed by bilingual medical personnel who are on call 24 hours per day. For serious cases, the CARE Clinic will arrange transfer service via modern ambulance or airlift to the renowned CIMA Hospital in San José, which is affiliated with Baylor Medical University of Texas.

Q. Where do I go for provisions? Gourmet Imports at Los Sueños Marina Village has a selection of fine meats, cheeses and other food products. There are two grocery stores in the nearby beach town of Jaco - Mas X Menos and Frutastica - as well as pharmacies, a hardware store and boutiques.

Q. Which currency should I use? While "colones" are the official unit of currency in Costa Rica, U.S. dollars are widely accepted and most merchants adhere to the official exchange rates published daily in the local newspapers. There is an ATM at Los Sueños Marina Village and several in Jacó, all of which accept Visa, Mastercard, Cirrus and Plus. Most dispense both colones and dollars. Credit cards (Visa, MC, AMEX, Diner's Club) are widely accepted throughout Costa Rica .

Q. What is the official language of Costa Rica? Although Spanish is the official language, English is widely spoken, particularly in popular tourist areas such as Los Sueños and Jacó.

Q. Do I need to be concerned about my personal safety in Costa Rica? Costa Rica is widely considered to be the safest country in Latin America. The crime rate here is lower than for most U.S. cities. As a precaution, we recommend that you avoid wearing expensive or flashy jewelry (particularly gold) when traveling outside of the resort. We also advise you to remove all valuables from your vehicle when it is left unattended.

Q. Is it safe to drink the water? The Los Sueños residential communities are serviced by a system of aquifers located in the resort's private rainforest reserve. It is safe to drink this water straight from the tap. When dining outside the resort, we highly recommend that you purchase bottled water. While the national water supply is considered potable and safe, the water is heavily chlorinated and has an unpleasant taste. Popular local brands of bottled water include Alpina, Cristal and Katadin. Evian is also available at select restaurants and grocery stores.

Q. What should I bring? Los Sueños is a very casual resort. We recommend that you bring comfortable, sturdy shoes if you plan to hike or partake in any adventure tours. Proper bathing attire is required at all Los Sueños swimming pools. Be sure to bring sunglasses, a hat, plenty of sunscreen and mosquito repellant (particularly if you will be visiting areas outside the resort). Please note that collared shirts and golf shoes are required on the La Iguana golf course.

Q. Are there properties for sale at the resort? There are a number of condominiums, villas and lots for sale. We will be happy to make special arrangements for you to tour these properties with a Los Sueños sales representative.
